Today was Saturday, and I wanted to get a decent run in. Unfortunately, it was cold and snow flurries were flying around the whole time. I really am starting to miss the warmer weather for running. It seems like it takes me 1/2 hour to just get everything on for running in the cold. Then while running, I usually have to readjust my mouth covering, gloves, jacket, hat or something! While running in the warmer weather, I just throw on a top, shorts, and shoes and a hat or sunglasses.
I logged 4.46 miles and kept about a 12 minute pace. My lungs had a hard time today, the cold air burned while running, so I had to walk more than I had hoped. I did take my inhaler, so either I am still struggling to get over my cold stuff, or it just was cold and it hurt.
But, I kept plugging away and ran. I only have about 24 more days until I need to run 13.1 miles at Disney. Although I have done 10 miles already, I am starting to worry since the last few runs have not been easy for me. I know that the excitement of a race makes it easier for me to run well, but I still worry. I think this weekend I will try to do a long, easy run to help my confidence.
When my hair began to turn gray abundantly, a kindergartener pointed to my hair and said, "Mrs. Wheatley, you have silver highlights!" So, I'm not turning gray, I have Silver Highlights! And I'm a runner. This blog is about my adventures as a runner and asthmatic. Read on to follow my journey on my weekly runs and many races.
