Chris and I knew we were going to run tonight, and knew it was going to be warm. The temperature in Charlottesville the other day was in the 50's. Today, it was in the 80's. Talk about a huge difference! My body is not used to such warm weather, but we pushed our way through the run. I finished 4.22 miles today. I had to walk quite a bit tonight, due in part to the heat, but also due to my sore calves. The hills at the race and my determination to push myself really wore out my calves. We have a 10K race on Saturday, so hopefully I can stretch my calves, use the Stick, and massage them to feel better. This has only happened one or two other times, and luckily, this time isn't as bad. Maybe my calves are getting stronger, or I am learning when to back off while running so I don't cause too much muscle fatigue. For the first time in months, I ran in shorts and a T-shirt. No trying to figure out how many layers I would need to stay warm while running! I will probably regret wanting warmer temperatures when July gets here!
When my hair began to turn gray abundantly, a kindergartener pointed to my hair and said, "Mrs. Wheatley, you have silver highlights!" So, I'm not turning gray, I have Silver Highlights! And I'm a runner. This blog is about my adventures as a runner and asthmatic. Read on to follow my journey on my weekly runs and many races.
